BVSD Meeting Structure Comments & D.C. Article

The Daily Camera had an article June 17th about our complaints regarding how BVSD board meetings are structured.

From the article:

"The group behind a proposal to split the Boulder Valley School District isn't happy about a meeting the school board has called to discuss the proposed division -- saying the board has created a "bully pulpit" to scare away public support."

One of the most frustrating parts of dealing with BVSD is how comments from the public at the board meetings are dealt with. We would like to see the public participation structured more akin to how the Boulder City Council deals with the public; council members can actually ask questions of the public so they can get more complete information.

Also, we would prefer that the board give us as much time as they give other presenters of information.  The board usually invites much longer presentations on a number of issues of much less import than this.

We'll make the best of it and present as much information as we can.

Please attend the meeting or watch on Channel 22 at 6:30 pm Thursday. One way or another we hope you will find it educational.
